You've completely misunderstood 777, piezoe. He wasn't talking about pure mathematics being independent of physical applications. He was talking about mathematics being completely independent of the physical world. He actually believes (or pretends to believe) "mathematical truths" predated the physical universe, and were waiting to be "discovered" by man. He is convinced that mathematics would exist regardless of life ... or of matter and energy. :S

  2. So mathematical truths predated the so called big bang...

    LOL!!!

    Too funny...

So if the physical universe went back to its "pre big bang status" 1+1 would no longer =2.

My goodness, this is just too rich...

There is a branch of mathematics where

    1 + 1 = 1

but I wouldn't expect someone of your ignorance to even begin to fathom that. Your assumptions about math, science and everything are so simple-minded, it's a wonder you can even reply to this forum.

  4. Fully explain why 1 + 1 = 1 without a cut and paste job.

    ROTFLMAO...

Fully explain why gravity can't be measured without a cut-and-paste job.

  6. Fully explain why 1 + 1 = 1 without a cut and paste job.

I knew you would fail miserably...

    Let me bottom line this:

You don't know what the hell you are talking about. You bring things up that you can't explain, because you don't really understand them.

If you can't explain it in your own terms, then you don't understand it, you don't own it, and you are just a drone or a parrot...

Typical atheist who quotes science but doesn't have a clue how to explain it...because they are just as much of a parrot as a Jesus freak quoting the Bible...

All you've proven in this thread is that you don't know jackshit. You are the very mook that you describe above.

    1 + 1 =1 in Boolean Algebra

Not holding my breath waiting for YOU to explain why gravity can't be measured.

Coexist Ricter? Like the will to believe and the logic to doubt, they each exist but do they coexist?

In the same way the will to believe in Mother Goose is not normally considered to be a healthy thing for an adult, unless tempered by the logic to doubt it.

Maybe a sort of coexistence - of separate and opposing unequal parts.

The evidence for a Universe is all around, not a Creator. Evidence of a Universe is not evidence of a Creator.. You have a Universe staring you in the face , not a Creator., and because of that fact you want to argue what... that a Creator just came out of nowhere.?
    No?
A Creator was always there ?
What , like a Universe that exists and was always there.
    No?
Why? Is it because, a thing can only always exist when there is no such evidence for it as there is for the Universe.?

Are you saying those on one side with an overwhelming sense of the fantastic in realization that the Universe exists, and those on the other side for whom all this is, "it's nothing but, it's nothing but..." ….. creator god?
