    FRANCE'S DIRTY LITTLE SECRET
His face was expressionless, the tone serious. On March 2nd 2022, ten days after the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron addressed the French nation. “Putin chose war,” he declared to the 21 million viewers watching his speech live. “Russian forces have been shelling Kyiv and besieging major cities. Hundreds of Ukrainian civilians have been killed.” In a similarly sombre tone he added: “We stand with Ukraine.” France had chosen its side.

That evening Emmanuel Macron omitted to mention an important detail: the fact that between 2015 and 2020 France had secretly armed Russia. This is a paradox given that for years the French president has been busy on the international scene seeking to find a diplomatic outcome over Ukraine rather than a military one.

  7. Sanctions-savaged Russia teeters on brink of historic default
LONDON, March 16 (Reuters) - The economic cost of Russia's assault on Ukraine was fully exposed on Wednesday as Vladimir Putin's sanctions-ravaged government teetered on the brink of its first international debt default since the Bolshevik revolution.

Moscow was due to pay $117 million in interest on two dollar-denominated sovereign bonds it had sold back in 2013. But the limits it now faces making payments, and talk from the Kremlin that it might pay in roubles - triggering a default anyway - meant even veteran investors were left guessing at what might happen.

One described it as the most closely watched government debt payment since Greece's default at the height of the euro zone crisis. Others said an emergency 'grace period' that allows Russia another 30 days to make the payment could drag the saga out.

And it took less than two weeks for the Kremlin to start demanding the return of Alaska and California's Fort Ross to Russia. Of course the world has mocked the demands of Putin's right-hand spin doctor.

'Your country doesn't have that many rubles to buy it back!' Social media users mercilessly mocks Russia after Kremlin apparatchik demanded US give it back Alaska

    • Many took to social media on Tuesday to mock the Kremlin's demands that the U.S. return Alaska and California's Fort Ross to Russia
    • The Kremlin's 'spin doctor,' Oleg Matveychev, had called on America to return the properties despite the fact that the U.S. legally purchased Alaska in 1867
    • Many on social media called it ironic for Russia to demand American land that was purchased for $7.2 million but is now worth more than $144 million
    • Russia was also mocked for the sanctions it placed against 13 Americans, including Joe Biden, Hilary Clinton and Hunter Biden
    • 'I want to thank the Russian Academy for this Lifetime Achievement Award,' Clinton tweeted as she poked fun at the sanction that would not affect her

Zelensky commented that NATO was never in the cards and the Russians are signaling they would accept some sort of model based on Austrian neutrality. Whatever works. It’s looking like Russia really wants to put this to bed before default and that’s probably the smartest thing Putin could do with this total shit show he put the Ukrainian and Russian people through.
