And all that hate from you "people" toward people like Stalin are simply a tribute to him and others like him. It's simply too damn funny to see rightists/fascists/nazis getting triggered like that.

See how that works? Just because someone does something that liberals (or whatever group you hate) dislike doesn't in any way justify their position. I hear this kind of naive "logic" often from Trump supporters, essentially "he's pissing off the liberals, he must be doing something right". Of course murdering conservative churchgoers pisses this liberal off, heck even the idea of someone physically assaulting NeoTrader because he quoted Ayn Rand one too many times would piss this "liberal" off and I'd hate it, does that mean that those must be "something right" or "a tribute" to those ideas? If your only metric for right and wrong is if the people you don't agree with oppose it or not, you've got a pretty messed up concept of right and wrong!

The US and the western European states were wealthy before WWII. Finland wasn't however.

Finland became wealthy because of Nokia. Maybe we've forgotten how ubiquitous their stuff used to be.

Its always been the case that capitalism creates wealth and socialism spends it. Ideally, policies from both sides of the house work together.

As for Ayn Rand, I've never read a word she wrote.

Just as absurd as the OpEd piece extolling the "virtues" of Socialism is the idea Trumpie is our last hope.

Well we can agree on that!

I do recommend reading Atlas Shrugged, if for no other reason than to understand where the people who see it as a kind of religion are coming from. Even if it is a bit painful like reading Mein Kampf or The Communist Manifesto.

Frankly, there's no need to... You are seeing "Atlas Shrugged" unfolding live with each headline from Venezuela.;) (And I mean it to the detail:))

Not that there aren't many other examples of it... Venezuela is simply the latest and current one...;)

  8. No.. can't agree with that now. Are you saying monarchy driven imperial conquest was just capitalism? In a way.. but again, not really interested in dancing the dance of anything means anything. I like a bit of Jazz but :)

They became wealthy through a lot of flavors of culture and government, they fell back at times also. But most countries who did not outright fill ships with gold, got really rich recently. Even Britain lost a massive amount of wealth through the excesses of imperialism.

Posted this before but the guy presents his research well.

Turns out to get really rich, a socialist leaning model is great.

    Bottomline is Socialism sucks !!

Why so much discussion on a "Worldwide Tried Tested & Failed" system.

Would take the US model with free or mostly free healthcare anytime. Go north to Canada and it works just fine. Oh! Canada does not have 100s of billions in defense budget ! US can also do with much curtailed defense expenditures. Ex: A squadron of F-22s can kill a major chunk of even top airforces in the world. This is only one small example of how much superior US defense capabilities are.

  10. Amazing, in a spectrum of 195 ish countries, some are failed states. Who would have thought of that eh? If you looked at the last 20.. how well would your pattern hold?

South American countries are kind of bad examples, people nice enough but the Spanish and Portuguese.. not exactly brilliant imperial masters. And if you want an example of pure Capitalism...(greed is good) the Lopez war. One of the dumbest things to happen in history. A war so fierce and relentless there was bordering no survivors.

South America is a nice place and all, Chile and even Colombia now very nice. I love it here but wow, stupid stuff at every turn in the political history. Lots of NeoTraders, balls to the walls.

Capitalism needs a regulator or the oligarchy who run it go off the rails tearing into each other. Socialism alloyed with it, works better than anything found so far.
