Sudan war affecting Gold prices ?

Discussion in 'Commodity Futures' started by RogueTrader92, Apr 24, 2023.

  1. Sudan exports gold to UAE, will the war affect the prices ?

  2. Doubtful. Price discovery is mostly driven by futures for commodities. Spot or country to country sales does very little. They engineer the sales to not disturb the markets, imo.

Not even in producer top 10 in the world. But it might affect some Sudanese Gold finding its way to a UBS bank vault box instead. Gold is a shiny metal, but Bitcoin really sparkles. Still.

  4. Sudan war will effect not just gold but all basic material, live stock and cash crops prices passively, meaning middle man will have to pay more now that they’ve openly given western countries and its deviations the boot.

On paper Sudan largest trading partner is China, on paper China largest gold export is to Hong Kong and the US is among Hong Kong’s top 5 trading partners
