I was not focused on the recounts. Just on this particular story about what the state GOP officials did with creating fake documents and sending them to the national archives. The entire situation appears to be well-documented and beyond dispute in terms of if the news reports are accurate in regards to content.
As the I-Team reported in December 2020, the Nevada Republican Party’s six electors signed paperwork signaling their support for Trump in a symbolic ceremony devoid of any legal merit. The event in Carson City coincided with the actual state-sanctioned tally on Dec. 14, 2020. The certificate, which looks much different than the official state one, reads... It was a symbolic....The electors made clear upfront and made no claims that this certificate was intended to be considered real To take a symbolic effort, and instead declaring it a fake effort, is a clear attempt to change the intent.....only for headlines Its false and gets 4 Donkey asses
If they had merely created the paperwork, held a ceremony, and posted it to the internet as a protest against the election results then it would be symbolic. When they mailed it in as the official results --- then it was no longer merely symbolic but fraudulent and unethical. Is this really too difficult to understand.
If they used the same official form then I agree But they went to excel templates and made their own form You cant restrict their private mail. Postage was paid by them not the state It was sent after the date required by the state An envelope accompanying the documents indicates the packet was sent via certified mail to the National Archives from rural Minden, Nevada, later that day. It arrived in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 22.
Here's the proper way to handle these phony electors. All states should follow this example. This unethical undermining of democracy by these GOP charlatans signing and sending phony certificates is unacceptable. Michigan AG Dana Nessel refers GOP electors review to federal prosecutors https://www.detroitnews.com/story/n...ectors-review-federal-prosecutors/6521827001/ Lansing — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said Thursday she referred to federal prosecutors a probe into Republicans who signed and submitted a certificate falsely claiming Donald Trump won Michigan's electoral votes. The revelation demonstrated the potential seriousness and ongoing nature of the investigation and could have repercussions throughout state politics, as the 16 Republicans in question, include high-ranking members of the state GOP, like Co-Chairwoman Meshawn Maddock. During an appearance on MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show," Nessel announced the case's referral to the U.S. attorney's office for the Western District of Michigan. The Democratic attorney general specifically suggested forgery charges could be considered and said the GOP electors in Michigan seemed to be part of a "coordinated effort." Similar certificates were created by Republicans in a handful of other battleground states. "Under state law, I think clearly you have forgery of a public record, which is a 14-year offense, and election law forgery, which is a five-year offense," Nessel said during the appearance. Sixteen Michigan Republicans, who supported Donald Trump for president, signed an inaccurate and unofficial "certificate of the votes of the 2020 electors from Michigan." Democrat Joe Biden won Michigan by 154,000 votes or 3 percentage points, a result that's been upheld by a series of court rulings, more than 200 audits and an investigation by the GOP-controlled state Senate Oversight Committee. Now that the Feds are coming for the phony electors they are clamming up. Previously they bragged about their fraudulent illegal activities. Arizona Republicans clam up about who organized their phony slate of electors: report https://www.rawstory.com/arizona-fake-electors-trump/
