Steadfast and SolarVPS (part of fortressITX) are both solid options. I wouldn't worry too much about someone stealing your code. These companies are hosting thousands of clients ... If the admin wants to, he can find for sure more interesting stuff than your 1 trade/d strategy ...
Thanks for the tips DOM. I have the strategy coded so that it will recognize previous positions in case of restart.
What data center is nearest to interactive brokers? I see speedy trading servers load ib tws on their vps in Chicago next to the cme, but IB are in Connecticut so the order goes from Chicago to Connecticut and back to Chicago. Is there a faster route for ib?
Latency to the IB gateway from the NYC Steadfast datacenter (which is where the Speedy VPS are hosted) is around 2ms using basic tools. It is about 12ms from the Chicago datacenter.
What is the sense of that? Seriously. 2ms means you are in front of anyone not having a machine in NYC or (in NYC) being on the end of a typical end user technology connection (as in: DSL / cable modem already add more than that). If you want to get faster, you start talking about the HFT space, and there you fight very different battles (as in: get rid of IB, colocate in the exchange, start fighting for micro or nanesecond advantages). Your IB feed already is WAY too slow for that. Within the non-HFT space you are as good as it gets with 2ms and pretty much ahead of everyone.
This is just an educated guess here but it's probably at 60 Hudson. That being said, if your edge is dependent on latency I have no idea why you're even bothering with IB.
