Germany is failing... and they were GWB's model response country. Canada is failing right now Anywhere that is discussing lockdown again is failing. Lockdowns have failed in every place in which they have had multiple lockdowns. Because by definition the first one failed to do the job of protecting the public from infections... while destroying businesses jobs and life.
Those who failed to vaccinate their population because they failed to secure vaccine doses (like Germany) will need to lockdown if cases are greatly rising. This is how the proper public health response to a global pandemic works.
The definition of insanity and stupidity... Promoting and then doing something that has not worked... repeatedly and pretending its the correct thing to do. And as far as this is how global pandemics work... wrong... In the history of the world... we have never locked down the low risk over and over on a widespread basis. Its been a stupid idea a dangerous idea and it has failed over and over with Covid. (as predicted by many of us.)
United States, Brazil, India and Sweden are at the top of my list for poor Covid Response due to bad leadership and/or bad health policy. Yet, things quickly turnaround when the United States fired Trump and hired Biden. Today, crazy number of vaccinations...less people are dying, increasing patient / doctor visitations for other illnesses that had been put aside last year in 2020 and more people are planning to travel by the end of the summer. Unfortunately, the Pandemic created a lot of crazy people, trolls, deniers and conspiracy theorists. wrbtrader
Having Leadership which provides a proper public health response to a pandemic matters... 'This Is Hell.' Prime Minister Modi's Failure to Lead Is Deepening India's COVID-19 Crisis https://time.com/5957118/india-covid-19-modi/
Yeah, but never blame extreme liberal idols Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsom for the their inept and incompetent handling of the Corona Virus to this day. Tens of thousands and many more each day, die because they have no clue but, GWB thinks these idiots are doing a fine job. He bashes Governor De Santis of Florida when he is doing a way better job than Cuomo and Newsom? GWB, ET troll without any active brain cells left. Keep trying fool. If you add all the deaths in the tens of thousands in each extreme liberal state, they would make up the majority of the over 500,000 US deaths. Any fool can see who is doing a bad job of it even now---extreme liberal Democrat governors that is who!
Let's respond to smallfil -- who has me on SuperIgnore but keeps abusing the system by responding to my posts. Here is his crud - "Yeah, but never blame extreme liberal idols Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsom for the their inept and incompetent handling of the Corona Virus to this day. California’s coronavirus case rate now the lowest in the continental U.S. https://www.latimes.com/california/...ia-coronavirus-case-rate-among-nations-lowest
Again, Canada isn't failing. You claimed Texas was doing a good job yet even in our worst days we still have a lower death rate then Texas or Florida. Lockdowns/restrictions have never failed. Ontario has outperformed most of the US on almost every metric there is for 12 months running. It smells of desperation trying to key in on April 2021 and ignoring March 2020 -March 2021. The same desperation you posted with on the second wave. The second wave came and gone and the US numbers ( particularly the death rates ) still remained easily above Canada's. You didn't learn a thing now you are at it on the third wave. Fuck you're dumb. Canada's death per million is around 620. Most US states are 1700 or higher. Could the numbers be any clearer yet here you are posting bs again about Canada failing. What about the extra 1100 deaths per million in the US genius ? They are dead, you failed them. The only explanation we have here is you are running an IQ of around 80 or you are mentally ill. Those are the only explanations why you would trot out this bs over and over again totally oblivious to how foolish you are doing so.
There are some realities regarding Canada's COVID response that shows what the country did well and where improvements are needed. Certainly the response in Canada is better than the U.S. The public healthcare system in Canada allowed for better tracking and reporting of COVID information. Generally the centralized electronic storage (I know there are actually multiple systems but they integrate) of healthcare information gave Canada a significant edge on tracking and addressing COVID. This is coupled with better public health policy in Canada to control the pandemic (when compared to the U.S.). Canada for the most part had alignment between the federal and provincial governments in driving the response. Where Canada fell down was: Failing to fund and secure vaccine doses. Due to this Canada is at the end of the queue begging other countries for doses. This is not a unique situation; Germany (and other EU countries) are in the same boat because they depended on the EU to secure their doses and the EU failed miserably. Opening up too early in many provinces recently. Easing restrictions in the middle of winter (peak COVID indoor season) in an environment where there are limited vaccines was doomed to fail Doug Ford was warned by the Ontario medical authorities not to ease restrictions. These medical experts even provided an accurate description of what exactly would happen as per a model -- however Doug Ford eased restrictions anyway. Now the expected results have occurred. Other provinces followed a similar route to Ontario recently in terms of easing restrictions causing an spike in cases. Where does this leave everything in terms of comparing COVID in Canada to our situation in the U.S. Even in the current "surge" in Canada the statistics for cases, deaths and other factors per million are much better in Canada than in most states in the U.S. As noted by others the number of deaths per day in Canada is significantly below states like Florida and Texas in the U.S. despite Canada having a greater population than these states. Indeed we can poke fun of Canada (and we do regularly) -- but just remember of COVID response in the U.S. is much worse than Canada is experiencing -- even in the peak of their "surge".
1st of all we should be considering all the damage caused vs all the damage saved. but... in this case this is even easier to gauge. 1. Ontario had to lock down twice within a few months this year alone. That is a massive fail... no matter how you look at it. If the 1st lockdown this year worked... why do you need a second this year? And one more thing... the U.S. failed too with their lockdown and Covid Response as has most of Europe. -------- 2. Right now... if you look at the charts... Canada is doing worse than Texas on the 7 day rolling average of Covid deaths per day... (Remember Canada has about 25% more people and the deaths per day are close. ) And parts of Canada have been in lockdown on and off for months... https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/canada/ https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/texas/ And Texas is doing much better in Vaccinations. Verdict... Canada is failing
