The fine GOP House majority

  1. https://democrats-budget.house.gov/publications/fact-sheet/debt-ceiling-explainer

The debt ceiling does not constrain federal spending or the amount we need to borrow; it simply restricts the Treasury Department’s ability to honor financial commitments previously made by Congress and the President. Failure to set the debt ceiling at the level necessary to meet borrowing needs could jeopardize the full faith and credit of the United States by preventing the Treasury from paying the government’s bills. This could take the form of failing to pay interest on, or redeem, Treasury Bonds when due, or failing to make scheduled payments for vital programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, or veterans benefits.

  2. You put your head up the Democrat's arse each and every day on each and every issue. Maybe you are not a registered Democrat but your menstrual cycle is synchronized with the dems.

Soy Boy gives us a link above to a Salon level.

Most men would be embarrassed to do that.

    Not GWB.

FYI: for anyone, like me, who is wondering why McCarthy keeps subjecting himself to failed vote after failed vote. It’s because the House is now only made of representatives-elect and as a rep-elect you can only do one of two things 1. Vote for speaker of the House and 2. Vote to adjourn the House.

So if McCarthy/republicans want to keep everyone in one place in order to try to get the House up and running they have to keep voting for Speaker.

I had the source in a tweet but got distracted and lost it but it’s really interesting. If I missed anything please feel free to add to the above. Interesting times.

I merely have two rules. I will not support any candidate who:
    1. Deliberately undermined American public health with consistent and deliberate Covid or anti-vaccine information.
    2. Supports Trump's completely incorrect claims regarding widespread election fraud in the 2020 Presidential election.
Obviously these two rules -- in support of American health and democracy -- eliminate consideration of voting for many MAGA Republican candidates.

Hopefully the traditional Republicans can take back control of the party.... otherwise it is going to completely sink.

  5. Well...there's only 2 Republican House members left who voted to impeach Trump.

  6. I thought that by now either UsualTard or GWB or one of the other usual suspects would be putting up a meme of a head of lettuce and McCarthy with the "which will last longer" routine.

They are off their game a bit.

  8. Well yeah.

You need to be sworn in to do any other work and you need a speaker to be sworn in.

Where it gets dicey is if the House wants to change some rules to play some procedural games to grease some particular outcome. Nope that dog don't hunt. You have to be sworn to even participate in house rules changes.

You need a Speaker to swear in the new members. And you need to be sworn in to do any other business beyond selecting a speaker.

Also, while you are here UsualTard, I asked you the other day if the Dems can decide at the party level (as the republicans did with Trump) to simply not hold a primary if they DNC decides they already have their candidate. And you did not reply. Do you know the answer to that?

  10. Ahhh. Indeed.

I was worried about you. You would have to be dead or in the emergency room to fail to do the predictable.

I can't keep up with all of your posts during the day. Nothing personal. Just business.
