traders who are deeply religious

  1. Does Satan do the same ? That is do you have to believe Satan, trust him, have faith in him, believe his word or seek him, to hear him, or does Satan make himself understandable without imposing such conditions ?

  2. i like the parts where god kills babies:

13:16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

Leviticus 20:9 “For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.”

Psalms 137:8-9 Prayer/song of vengeance “0 daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.”

2 Kings 6:28-29 “And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow. So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.”

Leviticus 26:30 “And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.”

  3. This thread is starting to give me some newfound insights as to why such a small percentage of traders are truly successful, and not just in pure monetary terms. Trading is too hard an occupation for most people to succeed in without some "outside help." Sure, I've personnaly known several true Satan worshipers at the Merc and the Board who were millionaires - but I would not call them all that personally successful or rich, in the broadest terms.

To operate a trading system with real peace of mind (absence of fear and doubt) and unwavering discipline often takes something deeper and more empowering than mere human psychology - as many readers of this forum will probably have to honestly admit. It's one thing to amass a pile of money by one's effort and guts, but it is quite another to really enjoy the fruits of your labor and to be able help and bless others in the process and reap the greatest rewards - and those without ulcers and other stress-related aliments, as well as divorces and legal hassles or without having to use drugs and stimulants to get through the day.

The bottom line: I believe God's way is the best way, whatever your human occupation is - commodity traders included.

  4. I believe you are absolutely full of shit. I trade with full confidence that my system will generate money consistently and avoid big losses by rigourous statistical modelling and evaluation. That lets me sleep at night, and the fact that I never hold over night. There is no luck, hope, prayer, voodoo, moon phases, ghosts, etc that affects my trading or my life.

  5. bottom line: you thought your superstitious beliefs in some unseen deity in the sky was the holy grail. the evidence proves otherwise so now you are reduced to preaching to us.
one other thing. divorce among believers is higher than the general population. shot down again.

A recent study by the Barna Research Group throws extreme doubt on these estimates. Barna released the results of their poll about divorce on 1999-DEC-21. 4 It was based on interviews of 3,854 adults from the 48 contiguous states. The sampling error is within 2 percentage points. The survey found: Divorce rates among born-again Christians were much higher at 27 percent than for other Christian faith groups.
Atheists and Agnostics have the lowest divorce rate of all: 21 percent.
Divorce rates among Jews were highest of any religion sampled. In order of decreasing divorce rates were: born-again Christians, other Christians, and Atheists/Agnostics. More information.

  6. Ask the fellows that ran LTCM how well "rigourous stasticial modelling" held up in real world trading.

i dont mind if a person wants to believe in his god of choice as long as he keeps it to himself as he was instructed to do in the bible:

Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

but to come on here and say that everyone who doesnt believe as he does must have a worthless life pisses me off.

I never can figure out in which God I'm s'posed to believe, there are so many excellent choices out there. I just know that as soon as I pick one of the Gods then the other Gods will feel slighted and will get all pissy about it and comdemn me to Hell, though which Hell I don't know, since it depends on which God is doing the condemning.

If all these Gods could somehow consolidate into One Single Entity, kinda like a God Conglomerate, it would make it a heck of a lot easier. That way we wouldn't have to worry if we were raised Christian or Jewish or Muslim or whatever. We also wouldn't need to be concerned that we may not even be aware of certain Gods in other cultures and end up in Hell for not believing in some God we never knew existed in the first place.

So, me, I'm a firm believer in God, inc. Now my ass is covered, baby! Let us pray!
