  3. So the largest percentage of crime is happening in 2 Wards of the district which are always on the news and across the Anacostia River or southeast D.C.

National guard is deployed around the Mall and Washington Monument and walking around the main downtown area.

So this show of force has nothing to do with stopping crime because as of now they are still not going into the worst crime areas of the city.

It would be like sending National Guard into Chicago and telling them patrol the Magnificent Mile only.

Basically trump is counting on many D.C. residents and fellow magturds here to be that stupid and as usual on that subject, he was right.

You guys really are that stupid....."Yeah crime in Anacostia will be removed by trump by having the national guard..... nowhere near Anacostia...

    MMMKay dumbasses.

  4. trump : D.C. crime rate is at its worst level ever

facts: crime rates are at 30 year low.

trump: whatevs......Mr. Trump’s claims that the city was overrun by “bloodthirsty criminals” and “roving mobs of wild youth,”

    facts: dafuq you smoking?

trump will take over for 30 days and then claim success due to crime rate dropping and brag how he saved D.C.

all i need to know is the maga knee-padders are real quiet on this one.

The Trump administration greatly exceeded their power in attempting to take over the DC police force, replace the commissioner, and alter the policies.

  7. We are fully aware that the President of the United States has no authority whatsoever and can do absolutely nothing. We know that the dems will sue him for every single act that is done by the admin. We understand that the President has no authority at all and that anything that Trump does besides taking dump is greatly exceeding the authority of the President.

You should go read the Home Rule Act regarding the allowed federal powers in D.C. and educate yourself on what is allowed and not allowed. Trump appointing his own police commissioner clearly is well beyond the allowed actions under the Home Rule Act.

How was Trump able to take over DC’s police?
Washington, DC, operates under the Home Rule Act of 1973, which grants Congress oversight and authority over the capital while allowing district residents limited self-governance.

The act grants emergency powers to the federal government, allowing the president to take control of the city’s police for up to 48 hours if he determines “special conditions of an emergency nature exist,” requiring the department’s use for federal purposes.

This marks the first time in the act’s history that a president has assumed control of the city’s police force.

Extending the takeover for a longer period requires Trump to formally notify the chairs and ranking members of congressional committees handling DC affairs.

Any control lasting more than 30 days would need congressional approval and must be passed into law, a highly improbable scenario given the current gridlock in a closely divided Congress.

  10. Show me where it states that Trump is not allowed to do what he did. Show me the list of limitations.

Define: "President may deem necessary and appropriate."

Code of the District of Columbia
§ 1–207.40. Emergency control of police.
    (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, whenever the President of the United States determines that special conditions of an emergency nature exist which require the use of the Metropolitan Police force for federal purposes, he may direct the Mayor to provide him, and the Mayor shall provide, such services of the Metropolitan Police force as the President may deem necessary and appropriate. In no case, however, shall such services made available pursuant to any such direction under this subsection extend for a period in excess of 48 hours unless the President has, prior to the expiration of such period, notified the Chairmen and ranking minority members of the Committees on the District of Columbia of the Senate and the House of Representatives, in writing, as to the reason for such direction and the period of time during which the need for such services is likely to continue.

    (b) Subject to the provisions of subsection (c) of this section, such services made available in accordance with subsection (a) of this section shall terminate upon the end of such emergency, the expiration of a period of 30 days following the date on which such services are first made available, or the enactment into law of a joint resolution by the Congress providing for such termination, whichever first occurs.

    (c) Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this section, in any case in which such services are made available in accordance with the provisions of subsection (a) of this section during any period of an adjournment of the Congress sine die, such services shall terminate upon the end of the emergency, the expiration of the 30-day period following the date on which Congress first convenes following such adjournment, or the enactment into law of a joint resolution by the Congress providing for such termination, whichever first occurs.

    (d) Except to the extent provided for in subsection (c) of this section, no such services made available pursuant to the direction of the President pursuant to subsection (a) of this section shall extend for any period in excess of 30 days, unless the Senate and the House of Representatives enact into law a joint resolution authorizing such an extension.
