Trump is using his Saturday military fiasco to seek donations. “Please help me before my military parade!” he asks about an event that allegedly celebrates the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary.
Well I did a little bit of No King stuff. Heading to lake Arrowhead and then to my old place nearby. If WWIII kicks off, we will have a nice view of it from there.
I wonder if any of the Trump followers on here have figured out yet they are on the wrong side of history. Trump himself has clearly given into megalomania.
As an ex-military soldier in the U.S. Army along with growing up on a military base when my old man was a military officer… I’ve seen about +20 military parades but the most memorable and biggest was when I was a kid and the base had its first « Week of the Eagles » parade to celebrate the return of our Soldiers (our parents) from Vietnam… My mom was one of the civilian photographers used to document the parade. Also, she had two of her assistants document a small nearby peaceful protest near the base. There were not any military soldiers and only a few local police used as traffic cops to direct the protest to a nearby off base park. Since that first military parade when I was about 6 years old…no other military was more impressive than that first one. It had a tanks, planes, helicopters, military attack demonstration, amusement park rides, and then my dad’s unit parachuted back to the base on their return and roar of the crowd. I was at my mom’s side when she suddenly dropped her camera bag and tripod…chased after my brother and I as we sprinted out to the drop zone…dodging airborne soldiers trying to grab us until we found him with his Sioux battle haircut. With that said, I was glad the U.S. Army celebrated its 250th birthday yet it was uncomfortable to hear some singing Happy Birthday to Trump. In fact, I received two phone calls from two soon to retire military officers…buddies from my Airborne unit…. They said the music was good, food sucked (cheap) and that hearing others (crowd and some soldiers) sing Happy Birthday to Trump ruined the military celebration of its own 250th birthday celebration. Yet they were glad that Trump did not use his brief speech to attack his political opponents and make statements attacking the military when it was under the prior administration because our military has always been strong regardless who sat in the Oval Office. In addition, they were glad of the diversity shown in the troops and videos (Asians, brown, black, women, indigenous, many different races, soldiers who immigrated to America as a child with their parents, along with a few gay soldiers who are best at their jobs…all marching in front of Trump and Hegseth. wrbtrader
