You are the type of internet troll who makes assumptions about the other person and then strawman's them down and throws ad homs around.

I neither trust Rasmuessens polls or anyone else unless we see the templates and its the last few weeks before an election.

but if you are going to print your b.s. polls... I will be happy to post the contrary polls.

  5. I see four possibilities, without considering a deal will be reached before a shutdown, of course.

    1. Trump caves before a government shutdown.

    2. We have another government shutdown and Trump caves again.

    3. We have another government shutdown and Trump misuses (In my opinion) his emergency powers and orders a wall to be built, which may be in effect legislation from the oval office. I care more about checks and balances in our government than a wall. Then again, I care about citizens being informed about our political process, including new immigrants.

    4. We have another government shutdown that lasts beyond election day. A wide government shutdown of this long time period will at least cause slower economic growth, maybe even an election affecting recession. Although Trump may be able to use emergency powers to fund critical government services such as border security and air traffic control, there would appear to be risk of a conflict of interest should Trump go to much further than that on Executive Orders.

Until the Democrats start feeling real heat from their lobbyists and risk losing their foreign funding sources, they will be content in maintaining the status quo. The Democratic base appears unable to determine what is in their own best interests, thus are not a worry to them. Indeed, large Democratic donors seem bent on interfering with our culture and their controlled politicians are too happy to oblige. Even to the point of prominent Democratic policitians becoming race or heritage deniers, such as Elizabeth Warren.

Based on what I have read or heard from Trump supporters here on ET and elsewhere, no wall equals no Trump in 2020. If these perceptions are correct, it would seem the most reasonable plan would be to embrace a long term government shutdown and to heavily deregulate all businesses and severely cut back on select goverment to industry expenditures. There were many new Democrated supported businesses, such as environmental inspection and services companies, that flourished during Obama’s regulation spree. In addition, there was a major expansion in goverment employment in regulatory agencies such as Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Cuts in these areas are almost free money and will likely cause stress on Democratic Politicians. Admittedly, should the US go into recession, the Republican Party may put pressure on Trump to cave.

All in all, one of the main reasons Trump was elected was his promise of addressing border security. Trump has shown his willingness to compromise, but has been rebuffed. He may now have the moral authority to use the olive branch as a stick now. At this point, Trump might as well go all in.

  7. You missed the part where I addressed critical safety functions of government. Trump offered to work with Democrats on the wall and it was characterized as him caving. Fair enough. Now it is time to try different plan getting the much needed wall built for enhanced border security.

  9. Good idea. Didn’t a Conservative recently won the Presidency down there, using a Trump-like campaign? Hopefully there are areas of negotiations between Mexico and the US that would not piss off Liberal Canada too much.
