Never underestimate the ability of governments to distort housing markets through regulation.. Result is always a shortage of houses and apartments.
it's already being done in one form or another and has unintended negative consequences. it won't change anything because of cultural differences between groups.
Capitalism and rule of law protecting private property are the two necessary ingredients to raise incomes.
Well only thing is we currently have Crony Capitalism and a rampant law-breaking gubmint which encourages common folks to do like-wise.
I think his comments re: welfare traps are more interesting than those of UBI. I'm not sure UBI helps a crackhead... they'll just buy more crack, won't they? But, if UBI replaced all welfare programs it could work out better. There's no panacea so I'll take a Pareto improvement.
This universal basic income has been spoken about for years and years and years. It's just one of those things you keep hearing about that never is or will be implemented. It's way to complex for anyone to grapple .. .they cant even fix the trillions upon trillions in debt overload and you think they are just going to hand out free money...nope never happening.
This won't be a problem, there are many precedents. If/when it will happen IDK, but there are legit countries experimenting with the idea and there's a decent argument that it's a better way forward (imho). However, removing warts from an existing system is no easy task.
