Remember Charlie Tuna and the (now legendary) Starkist Tuna commercials?

"Sorry Charlie... Starkist doesn't want tuna's with good taste, Starkist wants tuna's that taste good."

Well... what we're seeing happen now is the exact f'ing opposite. :banghead:

  3. Overnight

    Overnight

That's the odd thing. I tried one of their grilled-chicken sandwiches years ago, and it was so "blah" I never went back. And now one has recently opened close by here, and for the first few weeks, the drive-thru had lines. I was like "Jesus, this country needs a hero."

As for the university fags who need a handy-wipe for their butt-hurt because the private franchise owner has an IDEA about what he wants in his place of business? A private business, where there is no such thing as free speech and all that shit, because it is PRIVATE?

These liberal crybabies who think that everything exists for THEM, and for THEIR benefit, at no expense to THEM, need to seriously STFU, and keep their nose to the grindstone and actualy PRODUCE, instead of sucking dry the work of the people who produce for them.

  4. You might have had a bad sandwich but it is fast food after all.

As for Chik Fil A, this is a classic case of where an owner has let his personal beliefs and opinions overshadow his business brand. Strictly speaking, if you own a publicly open business that serves customers and decide to be vocal about your beliefs that might rub some people the wrong way and even dedicate resources to furthering those beliefs, then it is not good business practice. I never understood why Dominoe's owner or Papa John's owner and even Chik never fully understood that.

I am not talking about free speech because 1st Amendment is not applicable.

Just good business sense. When the owner overcomes the brand, the brand suffers even if the owner is popular. From what I have heard Chik Fil A restaurants are open to all in both customers and employees so the owner just needs to STFU. As someone famously said, its not personal, its business.

  5. Sorta and also sorta not.

Chick-fil-A is a private company. It's up to them to decide what the right mix of personal and business considerations should be, not shareholders.

If they believe that personal and business can work in their model, go for it. You can argue that they should not be closed on sundays because it brings personal, christian, whatever values into the workplace at the cost of business considerations.

But you know, it is reported that, the average chick fil-a restaurant has a higher per location revenue than a mickey d's, a subway, and a starbucks combined. AND THEY ONLY WORK SIX DAYS OUT OF THE FRIGGING WEEK. So who am I to say that they need to keep their personal views out of the business picture? Because why? Shareholders? They have none. Or because it hurts their bottom line? No, that dog don't hunt for me. Others should be so lucky as to be hurt that way.

Yeh, they had a kerfluffle over the gay thing. Could have been handled better could have been handled worse. Whatever. They have grown every year for decades. Shiite happens in the capitlism world. Starbucks wakes up one day and letting blacks use their bathroom is kerfluffle of the month. Whaever.

I have no advice for Chik-Fil-A. Only the socialists know how to improve them. Better hope that the Central Planning Committee does a better job with chicken sandwhiches than Chick- Fil-a. You know what they say: "a camel is a horse that was designed by a committee."

Chick-fil-A Makes More Per Restaurant Than McDonald's, Starbucks and Subway Combined … and It's Closed on Sundays

  8. I see.

    Louisiana's good fortune then.

We know his goal is to move to Canada, but you know, Canada has immigration requirements that he cannot meet. Sort of an inconvenient truth for some of the open border lefties.

  10. I am not saying it has happened to Chik Fil A because the owner has been pretty much in the background lately on his views and has been more focused on charitable efforts. He is not in the news talking about his personal beliefs nor is it splashed all over (I am sure a PR firm was hired and told him profits beat preaching).

My bigger point was I dont understand why owners even start trying to push their politics into their business.
