I suppose he would be ok with new housing in places like here but apparently nowhere near where he lives.

And imposing a historical landmark on. a homeowner without his consent or approval? Generally, that means you can't change the facade or make changes without approval. Some people might be impressed with it, but I would never want a home like that and I don't think many others would like it either. You are drastically diminishing the number of people that might buy your home. No thanks.,
