The USSR collapsed when it ran out of money. US debt is 30T and counting. China has money from US and western countries and getting stronger in military. From a historical perspective, once there is a change in power order, the 2nd has to bow to the 1st.

  2. "China on Thursday launched at least 11 ballistic missiles, some of which are thought to have flown over the island for the first time before landing in Japanese waters" :

"Chinese incursions have become more common since Beijing declared in 2020 that the unofficial border no longer existed."

"Taipei reported that Chinese fighter jets and ships crossed the 'median line' that runs down the Taiwan Strait on Friday morning."

"'As of 11am, multiple batches of Chinese warplanes and warships conducted exercises around the Taiwan Strait and crossed the median line of the strait,' Taipei's defense ministry said in a statement."

No I think US would really step in and defend Taiwan. Unlike Ukraine, US actually has a vested interest in Taiwan so it would not sit idly by and watch it being taken over by China without a fight and just instead impose some sanctions which would not be effective in China's case btw because China is so rich and is a completely self-sufficient economy even if it's cut off from the rest of the world.

  4. Regarding the huge Japanese Exclusive Economic Zone (see above map):

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exclusive_economic_zone#Japan
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exclusive_economic_zone_of_Japan
    "
Japan has the eighth-largest exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the world.

Japan has disputes over its EEZ boundaries with all its Asian neighbors (China, Russia, South Korea, and Taiwan). The above, and relevant maps at the Sea Around Us Project[67][68][69] both indicate Japan's claimed boundaries, and do not take into account the claims of adjacent jurisdictions.

You don't do business with someone who has threatened to kill you.

Headline: China's ambassador to the U.S. warns of 'military conflict' over Taiwan. (For some reason, this website won't let me post the link, but google that headline, it's an article from NPR).

And that's not actually the most threatening thing they have said over the past few years. Depending on China has weakened the US. They got stronger at our expense. Standard of living in the US was better before we started trading with China.

China depends heavily on foreign companies to produce semiconductors. They will not be able to make leading edge process technology without ASML's help. They still can be crippled with sanctions as they are a big exporter and there's already social unrest over there.

Your statement is simply not true.
China is not launching a war with US, it may have a war with Taiwan. But if US wants to join the war, that is its own decision. But I don't think US will do.
If there is a war between China and Taiwan, both sides deem the war as a domestic war. There is no logic for a foreign country to join this war.

China is acting belligerent and reckless towards the US and other nations.

Those all happened within the past couple of months. They are willing to take unnecessary risks / cavalier actions that could easily escalate to major military conflict. Their rhetoric towards the US is becoming increasingly hostile. And you simply should look for other trading partners when your current partner is actively in a long cyberwar with you and has a long history of state-sponsored IP theft.

While I lean libertarian and prefer to stay out of other people's affairs and a legitimate question can be raised for why the US has military bases all around the world, it's true that if you leave a Hitler or Stalin alone long enough, they will eventually show up at your door and it will become your problem. You can't live in a bubble forever. If the rest of the world simply allows a Russia to take Ukraine or a China to take Taiwan, then the precedent is set that the playground bully can take whatever he wants without fear of consequence.
