  2. LOL. Don't all plans? Those pesky details of actual implementation always get in the way. Hey, I like your one idea of cutting back on military spending. Doesn't put a dent in the cost of everything listed in her socialist manifesto, but I guess every penny counts.

There have always been differences in political beliefs between the two parties. The real question that should be asked is why is the division growing instead of closing.

My theory is that with the invention of the internet and social media, it's much easier to find people with similar political views. Echo-chambers are formed and people have less exposure to different viewpoints. It's getting harder to have civil discussions and find middle ground politically. Congress has become so divided that it's almost impossible to get something major done on a non-partisan basis. It's kind of sad to see it happen.

Most people, of all political persuations, want affordable healthcare. They just have different opinions on how to accomplish that goal.

As far as equalty, Democrats favor racial and ethnic preferences, for both real and perceived past discrimination. Discriminatory laws were reversed decades ago. Democrats were pro discrimination in the past. They are also the party that favors discrimination today. The only difference is that they discriminate against different racial and ethnic groups now.

I think both democrats can agree that we'd both prefer foreigners to stop meddling in our politics and start focusing on their own countries. So which do you hail from?

  9. If you look at this map of 'political mitosis' in the US congress (cross party voting) you will see that it happened before the internet. Internet just has not helped it re-integrate.

    there is a third position.
I no longer believe democrat leaders or most republican leaders desire the same thing the people do. They don't want to give us affordable health care because insurance companies and Wall Street say no.
They don't desire efficient govt because they lose power and influence
They desire to tax the hell out of workers so that competition does not rise
They don't want wages to get high so they bring in more immigrants
They don't want current citizens to vote them out office so they bring in new people with govt give aways.

If you think that voting for democrats will achieve the goals you have... you don't understand democrat politicians....same for the establishment republicans.

If it really were a choice between top progressive ideas and top libertarian idea... that would be a great debate and if the winners were able to execute on their plans it would be interesting.

It does not happen. We get the worst of the left and the worst of the right. So I vote for the least worse.
