THAT's an advantage any trader/investors has against a fund, can choose to buy + sell@ any speed or lack of it\LOL:D:D
A fund has to buy or sell, unless they have a gate....... Another disadvantage of ETFs, they cant really move that fast to goof up a swing/position trade, with the possible exceptions of TQQQ+ sector ETFs.......Assume scale in.

You can swing trade or even day trade ETFs. There is enough volatility to take small bites out of the market even as it trends.
Right now there are over 40 ETFs that move over $4.00 per day that are priced below $200 per share.

If you are assuming a scale in do you also assume a scale out? And really, what is the advantage you see in scaling in?

I do more scale in than scale outs\especially since comissions are $0.00.
ALMOST ALWAYS pays to scale in,over a period of days, especially for swing/position trade\even though a tight trender like SPLV, may differ.
I scale out, like sell all SH[SPY bear]+ stay in profits/ ride on SPXS[SPY bearish x3] or SPXL[SPYx3 bullish].
Tends to be an advantage, start smaller, then put on rest of position when profits or signal confirms.
SO even IF i was sure SPXL [SPY x 3] or SPXS was trending right+ got profitable on day 1; really its another form of scale in /buy later in week UPRO[SPYx3] or SDS[SPYx2 bearish....]
[IF you average up in price, a scale out can get goofy, since last position profit would be smaller maybe]:caution::caution:

A day trade becomes a swing trade when the positions are kept open overnight. I’m a forex trader, but I don’t prefer keeping my positions up overnight because they are subject to rollover fees. I am a day trader and I make sure to close my positions by the end of the trading session.
