that doesn't count lol.... assuming we are talking about something that involves some kind of timing instead of straight blind buys..

ironic isn't it.... the moms/pops who blindly go into 401k end up retiring on sp500, while day traders hustle for years/decades end up having nothing to show for.

  2. Much as I hate to reinforce the "brilliant scientist who can't tie his own shoes" meme, this echoes quite a lot of my own experience. I've worked with some scary smart people over the last five years (the best engineers from companies at the top of the heap in Silicon Valley), and
real-world execution was almost never one of their strengths.

People who are terrific at executing are either not quite that intellectually brilliant, or - and this is a really good possibility - keep their light under a bushel (since intimidating people with it is likely to be counterproductive.) They come across as competent and powerful, but not (usually) as intellectual powerhouses.

I'm not sure what qualifies him as "smart". Nor do I understand "breathe down on the wrong guy" - his first two posts are basically saying this entire community is a bunch of Neanderthals incapable of even forming two coherent thoughts. I LOVE to get in the face of idiots that do this "high IQ" garbage. They are typically underperforming in life and hide behind the veneer of "IQ" to avoid the shame of being functionally incapable of normal human things. It's stupid and no different than "everyone doesn't like me so it's THEIR fault". A desperate human seeking some form of explanation for why they have no friends.

I asserted nothing (except that he's a neckbeard - for which I have 11 pages of posts as evidence). He asserted some correlation in IQ without evidence - for an alleged "high IQ individual" this was a very low IQ move by him. The ball has, and always will be, in his court. I'm not responsible for presenting any evidence here.

I'm not sure what you mean by "behave awkwardly around smart people". Is the implication Lentus is anything but a tool? I'm having a hard time believing it given the preponderance of evidence to the contrary. If Lentus is an example of a smart person I'm an idiot and I'm happy with it. I'll go slum it over with the rest of the idiots - more company there anyway.

You have not shared some great wisdom I wasn't aware of. The ultimate humbling is the inevitability of death :)

I've tried. Signal/noise is incredibly low. Not worth the 10 minutes of thinking out and typing a post, really. ET is a basketcase as far as a discussion resource.

  8. Well, then those observed individuals were perhaps not all that bright after all. If someone does not grasp their own job description I doubt they reach an iq of 115

  9. Most of the community is bunch of geezers nadhigh school dropouts who did not quite catch the right exit in life. Not sure what is untrue about that. If you want to believe that most individuals on the other side of your posts are highly intelligent individuals who run a profitable business then all power to you. I doubt it

In my opinion and experience, the main problem with high-IQ low-performers is almost always #3.
