Higher labor cost is a result of labor shortage. Labor shortage is a result of Trump policies to tighten immigration. Trump voters are white, independent, blue collar work force (construction and associated industries) who for years complained about immigrants taking their jobs and creating unfair competition. 5 years later, those $20/hr jobs have turned into $50/hr jobs and no one will work for less than $15/hr.
