Has anyone heard any more info on the Big Dow? Is the launch date still March 20th? What is the symbol going to be?

I would figure the CBOT would hype this a little bit more than one simple news release. IMO, this could give really cut into CME's ES business in a way the YM never really did.

  7. 800+ pages!! How do you guys keep track of what's going on in here? Shouldn't there be section for YM traders to split up their threads?

Stupid question - what kind of wierd stuff happens when these futures move towards their expiration - when YMH06 is winding down? Or does it just whimper off and everyone moves on to M06?

    Thanks

I started this thread 7 months ago to get a feel of who was trading YM. I never dreamed it would become the most replied to thread in ET history and go 800 pages. There is a lot of good info for rookies as well as veterans in it.

As a futures contract move towards expiration it will lose premium. The volume will drop off and the srpead becomes wider due to lack of liquidity.

  9. You're right, volente. There is a lot of great info in here. But there is also a bunch of posturing and bickering that takes up a ton of page space. They should just take it out back....

I think I'll start a new YM thread for newbie Q & As.

  10. i have a question for all on rollover futures. it appears from wed's close to thursdays close the cash spy adjusted huge to reflect the rollover of futures and the same with the cash dia's. this must reflect the dividend payout of the all the components quarterly. here's the question. in the march contract on the es. a breakout was about 1301 or so. but now with the june that had a 10 pt premium the contract high is 1310 or so. so what if we break 1300 on the june contract which is really 1290 on the old march contract will the hypsters on wall street go wild and say its a breakout when it's really not? or will they monitor the cash spy which is constant no matter with rollovers. ALSO ANOTHER QUESTION. IF THE SPY STAYED AT THE EXACT PRICE FOR THE WHOLE 3 MONTH CONTRACT PRICE WOULD THE JUNE FUTUERS LOSE THERE 10 PT PREMIUM OVER THE MARCH CONTRACT AT THERE EXPIRATION?
